Waikanae Pools

On the 8th of February the whole of Rangikura school went to Waikanae Pools.  We were lucky enough to go to the pool because of the border of trustees.  There were more than 5 buses and there was only 1 bus for the parents, who did not have a car.  Everyone left at different times, but my syndicate went last.  We left a little bit after 9:15 Screenshot 2017-02-17 at 2.14.03 PM.png                  P1100697.jpg

When we arrived we got into our class lines and went in. Once everyone was there, the lifeguards told us some rules. Then we got into our togs and went in the pool. When I went to go on the slide the line was almost down to the bottom of the stairs.  I lined up because I knew the line was going to get longer. I waited almost 20 minutes to go down, it was so annoying.  I went back into the pool then it was lunchtime.  Everyone got told to get out of the pool and eat.  Most people applied some more sunblock because they were getting burnt.  Everyone hoped back in the pool and did some fun things.

When it was 1:45 everyone got out of the pool to get ready to go.  Luckily I got changed before 1:45, because it was going to get packed in the changing rooms.  Once everyone changed into clothes, the teachers did the roll, got there class in line, then we went back to the school.  Once we got to school everyone was allowed to go home.

Prep Market

If you don’t know what Prep Market is, Prep Market is when children of Rangikura School get into groups and make and design products to sell at the Prep Market.  To start off you have a budget of money to spend to buy all the things you need or you could get really creative and use recycled materials.  Once you’ve made everything, you sell it at Prep and give the money back to the school.  Come to Rangikura school on Tuesday the 13th of December and we will see you there.

My Book Review

Title:
Dork Diaries Pop Star

Author:
Rachel Renee Russell

Illustrator:
Rachel Renee Russell

The Book Was About:
Nikki Maxwell is a High School student at WCD.  Her best friends are Chloe and Zoe but she has a big crush on a boy named Brandon.  Until her enemy Mackenzie took a video of Nikki and her little sister singing and dancing at Queasy Cheese.  Will it ruin her life?

What I Liked Best:
I liked when Nikki got asked to play her song for Trevor Chase the famous director.  Even though she didn’t win the contest she still got asked to perform her song at the studio.

What I Didn't like:
I didn’t like when Mackenzie won the contest because she didn’t deserve to win it.  Because she stole Nikki’s best friends and almost stole Nikki’s crush.

Favourite character and why?
My favourite character is Nikki Maxwell because she is funny, crazy and she calls herself

Would I Recommend this book:
I would Recommend this book because it is funny and very interesting to read.

Olympic Artwork

Olympic Artwork

This term in Room 10 we have been working hard doing olympic artwork with similes and metaphors, tessellations and words that describe the olympics on it.

In this piece of art is there are similes and metaphors, can you tell which is which?  There is also a tessellation in the background and on the outside is the three olympic values, the medal colors, the country it was held in and the year it was.  A tessellation is also a repeating pattern with no gaps or overlapping.  And a simile is something that has like or as in it but a metaphor is a word or phrase that is used to make a comparison between two people, things, animals or places.

For the picture we had to find an athlete cut its head out and take a picture of ourselves.  Next I had to cut out my head then put my head onto her body and stick it onto the tessellation.

The easiest part in my art was coloring in the letters but the hardest part was the tessellation because I took for long to just draw it. I think my piece of artwork turned out well because of the colors.
